Creative environmental art in collaboration with communities
Genevieve has been leading participatory arts projects since 2011. She has developed programmes with people in museums, galleries, theatres, libraries, schools, care homes, festivals and outdoor public spaces, including producing remote resources. Since 2018, Genevieve has been an Associate Artist/Tutor at Sainsbury Centre, University of East Anglia. The creative projects she leads encourage closer looking and ask about the places and people around us. They are often themed around environmental and heritage topics.
In 2019, after leading outdoor and environmental arts projects for many years, Genevieve began training in Beach School/Wild Beach leadership and other complimentary outdoor education courses. After being put on-hold due to COVID-19, Genevieve restarted her Level 3 qualified leader training in 2021. She is also a Bronze & Silver Arts Award Advisor.
Informed by her grassroots project delivery experience, Genevieve is also active in arts leadership and governance work, including facilitating CPD, mentoring, training, and serving on management boards. In 2019, she co-founded the Artist Educator Social Network artist-led network for artists working with people in East Anglia, with Kaitlin Ferguson. For the 2020-21 period, Genevieve is an Arts Practitioner representative on the Norfolk Arts Forum Executive Committee, Norfolk County Council.
In her own arts practice, Genevieve uses multidisciplinary approaches including textile arts, drawing and early photography techniques, such as Cyanotype and Anthotype. Her inspiration is drawn from the natural world through working directly with plants and the weather, making on-location and utilising natural materials. Within this, she considers themes of time, place and seasonality.
Genevieve is a current member of AccessArt, Artists’ Union England, Artworks Alliance, ClimateCultures and Climate Museum UK (Associate member). She holds up-to-date Public and Products Liability Insurance, safeguarding training and recent DBS checks.
